The Leadbitter Group has been appointed by the University of Exeter to construct a £2m building for teaching and research to help improve the understanding and treatment of mood disorders. Located behind the Washington Singer building on the university's Streatham campus, the facility consists of a purpose-built treatment centre where clinical trials will be undertaken to evaluate psychological therapies. Professor Ed Watkins of the existing Mood Disorders Centre said "The state-of-the art laboratory facilities will help us study the underlying psychological mechanisms and inform the development of more targeted and effective therapies. The purpose-built treatment centre will allow us to conduct valuable clinical trials to determine which of these new treatments works best, as well as to improve existing treatments."
